Our Story
Mekeni is a Filipino fine fragrance house
rooted in the founder’s Filipino heritage. Joanna Tregonning is a perfumer and founder whose work is centered on storytelling through scent. She is a graduate of both Mandy Aftel's perfumery program and the Institute for Art and Olfaction.
After founding SIXVINGT, an award-recognized solid perfume brand celebrated for its innovative, sustainable approach to fine fragrance, she created Mekeni as a deeply personal expression of her Filipino heritage. Every fragrance is carefully crafted to evoke the feeling of "home"; capturing memories, traditions, and the evolving experience of the Filipino diaspora.
Joanna continues her perfumery education under the mentorship of Yosh Han of Eau de Yosh. Her dream is to one day travel the world teaching the fundamentals of perfumery and helping aspiring perfumers learn how to create and launch their own fragrance brands.
The Roots
Mekeni
The word "Mekeni, " means "come here" in the Filipino Kapampangan dialect. It is a gesture of welcome, an invitation to gather, connect, and remember where we come from. While every Filipino story is unique, there is a common thread that binds us together; whether we were raised in the Philippines or in communities across the globe. Mekeni celebrates the richness of the Filipino Diaspora: generations shaped by migration, memory, and the enduring ties to culture, family, and home. Through scent, we honor both the roots we share and the individual journeys that continue to define us.
Each fragrance opens with a bright, welcoming note, unfolds into a sophisticated heart, and settles into a subtle, long-lasting base that evolves throughout the day with the wearer’s unique chemistry. The lingering drydown leaves behind a gentle warmth, reminiscent of familiar kitchens, cherished traditions, distant memories, and the feeling of belonging. Inspired by the many ways Filipino identity is lived and expressed around the world, Mekeni is an invitation to reconnect with what feels like home, wherever home may be.

The Pamilya collection by Mekeni captures the essence of family and cherished memories of childhood in the Philippines. Featuring four unique scents—Pandan Sampaguita, Salty Ube, Polvoron, and Tricycle Smoke—this collection draws on the multi sensory world of the Philippines including the joy of family gatherings, delightful traditional desserts, and everyday urban life.
